Robin Hill Cottage Amesbury

Just 2 miles from Stonehenge

About

The Cottage

Just 2 miles from Stonehenge this delightful cottage is located within a 2 acre garden. Only 8 miles into Salisbury and less than a mile to walk into the local town of Amesbury. It’s a small town with everything you might need; independent baker and butcher, post office, banks, restaurants, take-aways and buses into Salisbury.

We are within the World Heritage site and the remains of an Iron Age Fort run alongside the cottage.
The cottage is fabulously well equipped and recently renovated. The bedroom has a super king size bed with gorgeous views from the window. Four more can sleep in the sitting room where there is a double futon sofabed and a single bed with single trundle underneath. A super bathroom with power shower and immediate hot water is located at one end of the cottage and a cloakroom with loo and sink at the other.

The hosts are on hand to lend anything you may require and point you in the right direction for the many amazing sights and activities in the area.

Stonehenge

Stonehenge’s ring of standing stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds. Archaeologists believe it was constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC.

The site and its surroundings were added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites in 1986 and it is a legally protected Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Open Daily 9:30am to 7pm
Tickets & Information: Stonehenge Visitor Centre

There’s so much more to the neolithic landscape than just Stonehenge. Staying at the cottage will mean you have time to take in Durrington Walls, Woodhenge and view Stonehenge from the Curcus and so much more. It’s perfect for walkers, cyclists, fishermen and tourists alike.

Was a beautiful little cottage the fitted the six of us which was fantastic as that’s so hard to do. Owner was so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Little touches like our breakfast stuff and making sure all four of our kids had there own bed was just lovely. Stonehenge just down the road. Pity we didn’t stay longer.

Our stay was excellent! Even though it is a little bit outside the city centre, we would highly recommend this place. The house is very cozy and comfy. If you just want to relax for a couple of days, this place is excellent, as it has a nice collection of books and games for entertainment. Little things made our short stay comfortable, like, blankets kept all around the house in case we got cold, informative books and tourist guides. The outdoors is great too, with a nice garden. The breakfast was simple, but it was great, with everything arranged nicely in advance. The best part of our stay was our host. She was very friendly, explained everything to us nicely. We arrived pretty late at night, and hadn’t had dinner. Since we did not have a car, it was difficult for us to go to the city centre, and the place we wanted to eat from did not deliver. So the host, very kindly, went out and got our food for us. The next day, I suppose as no new guests were arriving, our host let us leave in our own time. Unfortunately, our stay was too short. We would definitely love to go back there when we’re around. Would highly recommend this place, even though it may seem a little out of the way. P.S. It is also very close to Stonehenge.

Lovely welcoming owner of the cottage. Made sure we were comfortable and knew to ask for anything we required. Spacious but still cosy accommodation. Fully equipt cottage.
